Paris, the capital city of France, and global center for art, culture, fashion, and food, is an incredible place to visit. This vibrant, metropolitan city may be one of the world’s most popular places to visit, and because of that is often packed out with tourists, but it still has a real sense of community. Paris is divided into quarters, and each of which is more like a small village than part of a vast and vibrant city, where everyone seems to know everyone.
If you’re planning on visiting Paris, then you will most probably find that it’s nothing like you imagined it would be – it will be better. The only downside to this incredible place is that there’s just so much to see and do. From iconic architecture to explore, such as the world-famous Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, to artistic treasure troves, such as the Louvre and the Modus Art Gallery, there’s a lot of offer in Paris.
With so much to see and do, knowing how to make the most of your time in Paris – aka the city of love, can be a struggle. So with that in mind, below are some tips for ensuring that you make the most of every second that you’re in this amazing city.
Plan what you want to see and do in advance
As there’s so much on offer in Paris, it’s a good idea to research what you want to see and do beforehand. Although it’s tempting to try and cram as much into your time in Paris as possible, if you want to enjoy your trip, it’s a good idea not to try and pack too much into your trip. Aim to do something in the morning and something in the afternoon, with a break in between for a lovely relaxed lunch.
Eat out in different places
Talking of lunch, Paris is famous for it’s incredible cuisine. So while you’re in the city, make sure to try as many different foods as possible. The good news is that to experience some of the best food that Paris has to offer, you don’t have to break the bank either. Du Clercq is rumored to sell the very best fries. At P’tit Grec is said to sell the most incredible crepes in the city. The pastries from La Pâtisserie Cyril Lignac are beautiful. L’As du Fallafel sell delicious falafels. There are plenty of places to eat and drink; it’s just a case of finding the places that are best suited to you.
Think about how you’ll get around
Before heading to Paris, it’s a good idea to decide how you will get around. Depending on where your accommodation is, you could opt to walk or cycle. Or, if you’re staying too far out of the center to do that, you may want to use public transport, such as buses and taxis to get around. If you’ve decided to hire a care for the duration of your trip, it’s probably a good idea to research the Paris parking on offer. So that you’ve got an idea of where to park while exploring the city, and don’t have to waste time trying to find a car park.
Get lost in the city
If you have any free time while you’re in Paris, be adventurous and do a little wandering. Instead of following a map, wander from place to place, seeing what the city has to offer. A lot of travelers say that we only find the most beautiful sites when we wander off of the beaten track. So don’t be afraid to go for a little wander, just make sure not to go at night.
There you have it, how to make the most out of Paris.
